Frederico Sampaio is senior vice president and chief investment officer of equities for Templeton Global Investments, based in Brazil. He is responsible for the domestic FTIB equity strategies and also Brazil-related FTIB funds and institutional accounts distributed outside of Brazil.
Mr. Sampaio started his career in the Brazilian capital markets in 1993. He joined Franklin Templeton Brasil as portfolio manager/research analyst in 2004. Previous to that his professional activities included working as investment manager at Rio Bravo Investimentos and at Fundacao Petros. He has also worked as economist at Bank of America Asset Management in Brazil. Mr. Sampaio has been actively involved in corporate governance issues in the Brazilian equity market and worked as member of the board of directors of the listed companies Bonaire, Embraco, Hopi Hari and Inepar. He has also been a member of the "Conselho Fiscal" of CPFL Energia, CPFL Piratininga, Embraco, Banco Alfa and Alfa Financeira.
Mr. Sampaio holds an M.S. in finance and a B.A. in economics from Pontificia Universidade Catolica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC Rio). He has been a faculty member at PUC Rio, teaching Introduction to Economics and Financial Economics. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.
