Mark Constant serves as treasurer for Franklin Resources, Inc. and leads the Corporate Finance & Treasury group, which manages the firm's investment and capital management programs and is responsible for global treasury operations, as well as investor relations, corporate development (M&A), global insurance management and global real estate and facilities management. He is a member of the firm's management committee and chairs the corporate investment committee. Before moving to the corporate finance division in 2007, Mr. Constant was an analyst and portfolio manager with Franklin Global Advisors. He is proud to serve as the executive business sponsor for BEN (Black Empowerment Network) @ FTI, as part of the firm's Diversity & Inclusion Executive Council.
Prior to joining Franklin Templeton Investments in 2006, Mr. Constant worked as a senior vice president and senior equity research analyst at Lehman Brothers, where he covered brokers and asset managers. During his seven years at Lehman he became a regular member of Institutional Investor magazine's All-America Research Team and ranked among the top sell-side analysts in his sector in the Greenwich Associates survey each year. He is also a member of the Wall Street Journal's All-Star Analysts Hall of Fame. Before joining Lehman Brothers, Mr. Constant worked at Merrill Lynch for eight years, most recently as vice president and senior equity research analyst covering asset managers and mortgage finance.
Mr. Constant earned his bachelor's degree in economics from Stanford University, and served as a guest speaker at the Stanford Graduate School of Business for more than 10 years (and more recently at the Wharton MBA for Executives program in San Francisco) . He is a member of the CFA Institute / CFA Society of San Francisco, is a volunteer Financial Coach for Stanford's Mind Over Money student financial literacy program, and serves on the Executive Committee of StarVista's Board of Directors. He also served on the Board of the San Mateo County Sheriff's Activities League for five years (where he was named Individual of the Year in 2017), as well as the investment committee (and debt management committee) of St. Ignatius College Preparatory in San Francisco.
