Niels Bruckner is a senior investment analyst for Franklin Templeton Investment Solutions. He is focused on research and implementation of systematic equity strategies across both US and global markets. His roles include factor research, portfolio construction, and integrated technology platform development for risk-controlled mandates.
Dr. Bruckner has been employing model-building strategies that merge fundamental insights with quantitative rigor ever since he began his career with the Franklin Equity Group in 2003 to build and manage some of the first systematic strategies and smart beta predecessors.
Prior to rejoining Franklin Templeton in 2021, Dr. Bruckner worked as a senior research analyst at Mellon Capital Management/BNY Mellon, and as a managing member of Red Span Asset Management, an Asia-focused equity long/short hedge fund, with responsibilities of developing and maintaining both the models and technology platforms used to manage global portfolios.
Dr. Bruckner holds a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Stanford University and a PhD in physics from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.
